The Royal Reception Rooms

The Great Hall, the Throne Room, the Velvet Room and the Royal Stair – this tour includes it all.

Highlights of this tour

Step into the Royal Reception Rooms, where history is still being made today. On a tour of the Royal Reception Rooms, you will walk in the footsteps of the many kings, queens, ambassadors and political leaders who have visited these rooms over the years.

Among other highlights of this tour, you will hear the dramatic story about the catastrophic fires that destroyed the first and second Christiansborg Palace. You will also hear about how the palace still serves as the setting of official events, including royal audiences and meetings of the Council of State. The tour also includes a visit to the Great Hall, where you can see the magnificent tapestries created by Bjørn Nørgaard for HM Queen Margrethe.
