The Hall of the Giants
When the Royal Couple’s guests arrive at Christiansborg Palace, they enter through the Hall of the Giants – a unique hall with six monumental figures in French limestone. These Giants or Atlantes carry the ceiling on their shoulders and give the hall its unique expression.

The hall is named after the limestone columns shaped like Giants that hold up the ceiling.
With greetings from Vienna, Sweden and the Hermitage Palace
The Baroque Hall of the Giants was designed by Thorvald Jørgensen, with inspiration from Sala Terrena, which means Hall of the Ground Floor, in the Baroque palace Upper Belvedere in Vienna.
At the end of the room, there is a large mirror, which gives the Hall of the Giants an infinity perspective. Above the mirror is a relief portrait of Christian VI that was originally mounted on the west wall of the Hermitage Palace.
The large portrait of HM Queen Margrethe II was painted by Mikael Melbye in 2010 and shows the Queen in gala dress with Frederik III's silver lions by her side.
