At 106 metres, Christiansborg Palace Tower is the tallest tower in Copenhagen. In the room under the copperclad spire with the three crowns lies the Tower Hall.
The hall is decorated with a series of five woven tapestries portraying scenes from Danish folk ballads. The tapestries were a gift to the palace by the City of Aarhus. They were designed by the sculptor and professor Joakim Skovgaard during the 1920s and woven in the Tower Hall from 1925 to 1929.
In the Tower Hall, there is a grand piano that belonged to Christian X and Queen Alexandrine, a gift on their silver wedding anniversary. The sides of the grand piano follow up on the theme of the tapestries, as it too is decorated with scenes from traditional Danish folk ballads.
