300 metres of velvet
The walls are decorated by 300 metres of exquisite velvet. When the architect Thorvald Jørgensen created the Velvet Hall, he drew inspiration from nothing less than the Sun King's (Louis XIV) bedroom at Versailles.

The red velvet tapestries contain motifs of the Danish national coat of arms, with the three lions and the nine hearts. In 2015, the 100-year-old tapestries were replaced with new ones, the decorations were regilded, and the marble was polished.
