Free admission

We accept ICOM and ODM cards. Please present you card at the Palace Shop to receive a free admission ticket to the palace. Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to book entrance time slots online using an ICOM or ODM card.

The nearest Metro station is Gammel Strand.

Unfortunately, parking is very limited in the area around Christiansborg Palace, including on Slotsholmsgade and along Frederiksholms Kanal. However, there is parking in the underground car park at BLOX, which is a 10-minute walk from the palace. 
Parking on the Riding Ground or in the inner courtyard is only allowed for employees at Christiansborg. 

Bags, luggage on wheels etc.

Practical information

The palace has limited cloakroom facilities and only has room for small bags and umbrellas. Large bags, suitcases, prams pushchairs/buggies and umbrellas are not allowed inside the palace. 

Pushchairs/buggies and prams are not allowed inside the palace but may be left in the Queen’s Gate, at your own risk.

For security reasons, carry cots and sleep carriers are not allowed inside the palace – we recommend using a carrying sling.

Eating or drinking is not allowed inside the visitor sites at Christiansborg Palace. You can buy water from the Palace Shop by the Royal Reception Rooms.

You are welcome to enjoy a packed lunch at the outdoor tables in the Royal Library Garden, which lies in extension of the Rigsdagsgården in front of Parliament, or on the benches at the Riding Ground.  

You are welcome to take photographs for personal use during your visit to the Royal Reception Rooms, the Royal Kitchen, the Ruins, the Palace Chapel and the Royal Stables.

Only handheld equipment is allowed. Tripods or monopods are not allowed in any of the visitor sites. 

Flash or lamps are not allowed.

Smoking is not allowed in the palace or on the palace grounds. This includes e-cigarettes.

Visitors who have paid admission are welcome to use the toilets at the Royal Reception Rooms, the Royal Stables, the Royal Kitchen and the Ruins. 

Companion card, disabled parking etc.

Accessibility

All the visitor sites at the palace can be accessed using a walker frame or a wheelchair. To use the lift, please contact our ticket desk staff when you arrive at the individual visitor site.

Visitors with a companion card from Disabled People’s Organisation Denmark can bring a carer/companion free of charge. Please present the companion card when you arrive.

Disabled parking is available at Bertel Thorvaldsens Plads (by the entrance to Thorvaldsen’s Museum).

To use the lift, please contact our ticket desk staff at the individual visitor site. 

You can borrow a wheelchair or walker frame by contacting the ticket desk staff at the Royal Reception Rooms.

There are chairs and benches at the visitor sites so you can take a rest during your visit.

There are toilets with disability access at the Royal Reception Rooms, the Royal Kitchen and the Palace Chapel.

Guide dogs and assistance dogs accompanying their owner are allowed throughout the palace. To qualify, the dog must be a trained assistance dog with a vest or other accessory clearly marked ‘Assistance dog’ or similar. The dog must be kept on a leash throughout your visit.

If you have a hidden disability or condition, you can pick up a free Sunflower lanyard and a plastic sleeve for a personal card when you visit Christiansborg Palace . Both are available from our Palace Shop and ticket desks.

The Sunflower lanyard is a discreet sign that the wearer might need a little extra time and understanding or a helping hand. As part of the Sunflower programme, our frontline staff have the awareness and training to provide the conditions for a safe and enjoyable visit.

The Palace Shops offer traditional souvenirs, Danish design and unique products inspired by current exhibitions and the permanent collection. You do not need to pay admission to visit the shops. Annual pass holders receive a 10% discount.
