The best of Rosenborg

Join us on a classic tour of Christian IV's beloved Rosenborg Castle, where the students, together with the museum's guide, follow in the footsteps of Denmark's kings and queens.

About the guided tour

Imagine entering Christian IV's chambers, where he could also appear as a powerful Renaissance king in private. Feel the atmosphere in Frederik III's royal chambers, where the dramatic era of absolute monarchy unfolds. Experience the Great Hall, where Christian V's magnificent tapestries bear witness to Denmark's burning desire to reclaim the title of ruler of the North.

Four generations of kings once used Rosenborg Castle, and through them, the history of Denmark unfolds in a royal perspective. This course focuses on the unique objects, rooms and stories that encapsulate Rosenborg Castle's 400-year history.

The course concludes with a tour of the Treasury, where students get up close to Christian IV's Renaissance crown and hear about the thoughts he had about the design of this particular crown.
