Frederik V’s Cabinet (room 14)
Beautiful tapestries with garden scenes and a unique amber chandelier

From princely residence to museum objects
This room was originally the residence of Frederik IV’s brother Prince Carl. Along with Christian VII’s Room and Frederik VI’s Room, it was renovated by Johannes Wiedewelt in 1782–1784. The walls are decorated with tapestries of garden scenes, woven at Charles le Vigne’s factory in Berlin around 1750.
Most of the objects in the room date from the second half of the 18th century and relate mainly to Frederik V and his consorts, Queen Louise and Queen Juliane Marie, and their children, Christian VII and Frederik, the Heir Presumptive.
Notice the amber chandelier – it was made by Lorenz Spengler after a drawing by Marcus Tuscher.
